British TV – freeware gives the world access to Monty Python and stuff

Britishtv

British TV is a small freeware utility which, when combined with the most excellent VLC media player freeware, lets anyone in the world watch 44 British television channels via the Net. It’s wonderfully geeky and simplistic, but also works, which is pretty amazing. Be patient as it can take a little while for things to fire up, and unfortunately lesser channels can disappear from time to time, but the main ones seem fairly reliable. Works on Windows, Mac and Linux. I personally love CBeebies, but don’t tell anyone.

 Q. Channels won’t buffer or start. A. The sever that host the channels is probably undergoing maintenance, is down, or the URLs have changed. This has nothing to do with the British TV program, VLC, or someperson. Please email someperson with a list of non-working channels so that he may provide an update if necessary.

  • This may work in the USA but I can't get it to work in the Uk.
It connects to my VLC but the urls it provides don't work. They don't connect.
Or is my Virgin cable blocking it?????

    • Oh interesting. It definitely works for me here, so it must be Virgin cable. Did you try the BBC 1 link?

  • There's 49 pages of people asking questions and explaining how to make it work. From what I got, the creator of the program is not around and the mms streams are in non-working condition.

  • i'm in u.s. and it's not working

  • no its stopped working for all people, nothin to do with what country u are in or what internet provider u have. i for one am mega peed off with it not working. anyone no of any streams to paste into vlc?
