Bus rides can be really long. Even if it’s just around the city, with stops, traffic, and winding routes, you could be sitting there for a long time. If you don’t suffer from motion sickness, best practice is to bring a book. This book lending machine will hook you up if you’ve forgotten one.
This handy little machine can be found on a bus in Urumqi City, the capital of Northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. So it’s not available everywhere but it’s still a stellar concept. These machines hold up to 30 books and are accessed by QR codes. The books are totally free to borrow and return as you finish them.
The plan is to install more of these little boxes to spread the love of books and hopefully combat rider boredom. Think of them as a sort of mobile free library system.
