Both the Finnish and French governments have recently declared access to the Internet to be a legal right, which makes the latest move by the UK government to randomly remove such a right if you’re an alleged file sharer even more disgusting. It’s like removing the right to get a job from someone who is accused of being late for work too many times. Not to mention the risks of depriving a completely innocent family of access because of hacking or some other cause.
If you’re interested there’s a petition on the Number 10 UK government outreach site, which is one way to protest this dangerous move and hopefully get rid of yet another example of ridiculous legislation from the government timetable. So far 22,000 people have signed, which is a good start. It’ll take just a couple of minutes to sign.
