Future tech.

The British Telecom Timeline. There’s nothing so foolish or futile as forecasting the future [fabulous falliteration – Ed], but someone needs to tell BT. This little technological timeline stretches to infinity and beyond (well OK 2055) and makes some bold predictions. Artificial brains by 2044, genetically engineered teddy bears by  2041? Tell you what, let’s meet back here in 50 to see if it turns out to be correct? You can log on via holographic thought waves. Oh yes. Downloadable version…

VoIP Wiki.

The VoIP Wiki. Very neat idea, a wiki documenting all this new trendy Internet phone tech. From the comments though, it looks as though it’s being hit by a bit of advertising spam, so be nice and help it out, eh? The Ferret knows how hard it is to keep a wiki clean.  This Wiki covers everything related to VOIP, software, hardware, service providers, reviews, configurations, standards, tips & tricks and everything else related to voice over IP networks, IP…

Firefox secrets.

The Secrets of Firefox 1.0.  With all this momentum, it’s fascinating to find that many powerful capabilities of Firefox 1.0 are still difficult to find and little known. For example, typing the following strings into Firefox’s Address Bar (which the new browser calls the Location Bar) and pressing Enter brings up a wide variety of novel applets:

Google Q&A.

Among the useful tidbits lurking on Google’s Web Search Features page is the new Q&A function. Rather slick and typically Guseful.  Want to know the population of Japan? What currency is used in Algeria? The birthplace of Bono? Hit us with a fact-based question or query (like “population of Japan”) by typing it into the Google search box. We’ll search the web and display the answer at the top of your search results page. We also link to our source…
