9 Months, 9000 miles with a 2012 Chevy Volt – mythbusting the amazing GM eco car [Review]

The 2012 Chevy Volt is charging ahead in the electrifying battle to become the #1 plug in hybrid. OK, so how cheesy an opening is that, but the reality is that for the first time since the horse drawn carriage, gasoline is slowly becoming more of an optional part of the personal transportation equation. At least that’s the way it seems right now…gas powered skateboards may change the balance once again if they get popular. But I digress.

Aixam Coupe S – 40 km/h, 95 mpg, is this the future of urban transportation?

In the movie Idiocracy, there are numerous scenes showing the state of road transportation in the year 2050, and none of it is encouraging. Forget fancy robot or flying cars, it looks like the best the future will be able to muster are glorified golf carts. Since many people revere the cult film as akin to a documentary, this could be cause for depression, so we thought we’d add to the jolity.

Renault bets big on solar power

The good folk at Renault, purveyors of quirky French automobiles and such, have decided to invest heavily in solar power for their production and distribution operations. How big? Well they’ve just announced an initial 40 hectare commitment, which is the equivalent of 60 football pitches. The solar installations, all located in La Belle France, will produce 52,600 MWh of power every year, enough for a town of 15,000 people.

New car seat technology could stop the car if you’re too tired to drive

A new technology developed by British technology company Plessey aims to reduce the number of car accidents that happen as a result of driver fatigue through the use of a smart car seat. Driving while drowsy is ranked as one of the top 20 reasons why crashes occur, and, as in the notorious case of Englishman Gary Hart who was jailed in 2001 for causing the deaths of 10 people in a train derailment after falling asleep at the wheel,…

2012 iMac is looking rather trim

Ah yes, the iMac. Extravagant, beautiful, expensive, and really awesome for work. While gamers won’t necessarily use this as their main rig(because games are hardly ever Mac-compatible), this is a really wonderful computer. We got to see one new goodie from Apple the other day, and now we’re going to take a look at the new iMac.

Titanium Mouse will show off your social status

When buying a computer mouse, you’re normally buying it for a practical purpose. If it’s for gaming, you want to be able to have different DPI settings, or macro buttons, if it’s for work, it doesn’t really matter so long as it functions. If you want to have a standard mouse at a phenomenal price, then you need not look any further.

Crazy Robot Wheelchair climbs steps like a champ

It’s rather obvious that the coming robot revolution is not going to be pretty. Oh sure, it’ll be functional, but for the most part the robots in our future are probably going to start out looking like ugly buckets of bolts, Asimo excepted of course. Maybe it’s something to do with all that electro-mechanical servo stuff…a sort of modern day steampunk?

Logitech Wireless Rechargable Touchpad T650 does away with your mouse

Several years ago, there was talk of doing away with a mouse for computers. While that obviously didn’t end up being the case, there are still a lot of track pads being made. This is for those who would rather feel their way through their online environment than have to drag and click all the time.

Sennheiser U320 Multi Platform Headset can work and play as much as you do

We are surrounded by all sorts of different media. There are games to be played, music to be listened to, and much to our displeasure, work to be done. If you want a headset that is going to suit your every need, you’ll likely need an adapter, or multiple headsets. Unless of course you can find something that works across the board.

Wet Circuit Power Strip doesn’t mind taking a bath every now and then

It is a well known fact that water and technology do not mix. The first experience I had with learning about this was dropping a flip phone into a bucket of mop water ( I saved it, but it was never quite the same after that day). The only problem with these two not exactly being fond of one another is that sometimes you can’t help it if you need electronic gizmos in a damp environment.

Logitech G710+ Mechanical Gaming Keyboard is playing quiet as a mouse

If you prefer to use a mechanical keyboard, you know that delicious clacking sound they make when you type. Should you have an email to type up that contains less than endearing tidings, everyone around you will know your emotions by how quickly and harshly you strike the keys. However, this constant background noise might be distracting while playing a game. Thankfully though, there is a solution.

Self Parking Car freaks us out, valet parking union to sue?

There’s no question that self-driving cars are somewhere close on our horizon. There’s too much noise about the Google research tests to ignore, no smoke without fire as they say. But it also looks like we’re going to see a bunch of different technologies coming to market, to offer all sorts of interesting innovation in this area.

The Massage Mouse just wants you to be comfortable

If you’ve ever had to sit in front of your computer for hours upon hours, then you know what sort of muscle cramps come with it. There’s not really any way to get rid of these short of getting an actual massage, which can get to be expensive if you do it on a semi-regular basis. Chair topper massagers work decently, but you always have to move it on and off of your chair again, as you won’t actually want…

Lockitron will let you lock the front door with your phone

When you leave the house, the last thing you do before heading to your next destination is lock the front door. Sometimes we forget about it, which of course sends us into a state of panic wondering about all of the “what if’s”. Even if you do remember to lock your door, should one of your friends need to pick something up for you at the house, and be found without a spare key, you’re both at a bit of…
