Prop puppies.

Screen Used. Feel the need to buy a collectible movie prop? How about Wolverine’s claw for $7,499.00? Or Ethan Hunt’s bullets from Mission Impossible 2 for $699.00 […is that each? – Ed]. Or even a prototype Light Sabre from Phantom Menace for $8,499.00? Got cash or PayPal? Nice site design too, lads!  ScreenUsed is run by three collectors, Desi DosSantos, Jeff Castillo, and Stephan Lokotsch. They have been collecting screen used props and wardrobe for a combined 38 years….

That petrol emotion.

Affective Media make emotion recognition software. I think the idea is to create tech products which respond to our moods, thereby making them more useful. Not just toys and games, but PDAs, home automation et al. Interesting concept all right. Check out the demo.  Emotion recognition enables artificial pets to understand our emotions and to react to them in a way similar to their real-life counterparts. Making our entertainment robots more pet-like can only help to bring them into our…

Le Segway, zoot alors!

Looks like the Europeans may be warming to the Segway concept better than the domestic US market. Viz the Oxygen Network – a zero emission vehicle rental station in the city of Lille in France.  The Oxygen Station is located on the Champ de Mars, just Northwest of Lille near a large parking lot. The Oxygen Boutique is located in the center of the city at the Lille Flandres railway station. A total of 16 Segway HTs and 25 electric bikes…

Rock da house.

Solid Drive Set.  Apparently with these transducers you really can rock da house. Just plug ‘em into your walls using the special bracket and presto, the room will speak. Cue Julie Andrews song (“…the walls are alive, with the sound…”) $449.99.  Induction Dynamics SolidDrive installs directly behind walls for a truly inside-wall speaker, turning the entire wall into a sound source. Sound is generated from these large acoustic-radiating surfaces, immersing the listener in sound. The sound is omnidirectional at nearly all frequencies, while channel…

EnGenius.

The EnGenius SN-920 cordless phone system. Billed as having the longest range of any cordless home phone. Apparently 9 times the power of ordinary units gives a range of up to 5 miles, and the handsets can also double as independent walkie talkie units. I’d be a bit worried holding a handset with that much power near my brain for extended periods, though. Know what I mean? Around $373.00.  This power produces the EnGenius long-range performance that outdistances all other cordless…

Super search?

Accoona. Super target your search. Yes, yes, it’s yet another search engine. But what can we do, you know we love ‘em. Even if they don’t always…cough…perform as well as The G.  Accoona gives you the ability to use Artificial Intelligence technology to “SuperTarget” your searches. “SuperTarget” is the term used by Accoona to describe the search features that enable searchers to highlight specific terms within the search query. The ability to “SuperTarget” a search is valuable to all Internet…

S.N.I.U. of P2P.

Ari Friedman has set up a website (soon to be a wiki?) to document the Substantial, Non-Infringing Uses of P2P networks, and present the truth about how useful this technology is, irrespective of what the music industry would have us believe.  He put out a call for contributions and so the Ferret did a search n’trawl through all the ones we’ve found over the past few years and came up with this list of 16 15 which we have sent to him. Fascinating. Also…

Touch dis.

The Touch Panel Phone.  $29.99. Q. How much tech is too much tech, when embedded into something as simple as a home telephone? Answers on a backlit postcard, please, to….  According to Nikai-Osaka, this multi-function phone’s exceedingly thin design gives you an absolutely fresh feeling when you touch the blue LCD screen. Consumer choice?

Choose the Blue. A site which lets you know which American companies support which US political party, in order to let you buy only from those which support your political leanings? It’s quite a scary concept if you take it to its logical conclusion. Of course clever companies like Intel split their donations almost 50/50!  If each American who voted for John Kerry spends $100 in 2005 on a Blue company instead of a Red company, we can move $5 Billion away…
