Old Spice – probably the greatest viral internet campaign ever

You know I don’t usually like adding to the noise, but this new Old Spice viral ad and marketing campaign is just too delicious to miss. The whole thing revolves around ex NFL pro footballer Isaiah Mustafa and a team of comedy writers who are amazing. I won’t say any more except to mention that taking the ad and making it into a Twitter response medium is nothing short of brilliant. I wonder if it had anything to do with…

Miro Community – free and easy way to make a video website

The new Miro Community service is a very cool way to create a free and easy video focused website. Creating a new site involves nothing more than signing up and selecting one or more videos to add to the site. You can add videos from any number of sources, including YouTube of course, as well as from an embed code, RSS feeds or a direct link to a video you’ve found on the Web. This means you can aggregate favourite videos from…

Satechi Bluetooth Handsfree – buy this or be a loser…

This Satechi Bluetooth Handsfree is very ho-hum, except for the totally cool dude doing the YouTube demo. Dunno who you are dude, but you’ve got the uber geek smug, ‘only doing this for the money smirk‘ vibe down perfectly. We really get it. Quick someone find this guy a show on cable, preferably QVC. Oh yeah, and the product is $45.00.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDPiAq2H0aE  Bluetooth Hands-Free Transmitter provides a live full duplex communication solution using Bluetooth technology through FM transmission to your…

I want an iPhone 4 parody…gets someone fired

Wow, following on from the Futurama piece last week, this *very NSFW, very dodgy language* spoof animation is hilarious. Poor old Apple users are really starting to get the AOL lame user treatment. “It is 3G, and has the WiFies”. Awesome.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FL7yD-0pqZg (…oh and apparently the maker of the video has apparently been fired by Best Buy for creating it. One of the best comments comes from the Techdirt comments section: “In a situation like this, I always ask myself, “WWJD”…

Crisis of Capitalism – our dummies guide…

This Crisis of Capitalism video from the RSA lecture is brilliant, mainly because of the awesome graphics which accompany the audio. Worth 11 mins of your time, even though it’s a shame no solutions are offered. [Via]  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOP2V_np2c0  In this RSA Animate, radical sociologist David Harvey asks if it is time to look beyond capitalism towards a new social order that would allow us to live within a system that really could be responsible, just, and humane? F600HD Car Cam – the highest definition car cam in the world

This F600HD Car Cam is billed as the highest resolution car camcorder in the world, which indicates to us that the Chinese have something of a driving quality problem. Why else would you need an auto-focus, high res, HDMI output camera with 5 megapixels to record your driving environment? It even has a flash, for goodness knows what purpose. Storage is done via SD cards and 32 MB internal, and it also features an internal mic. $169.99.  This is world’s highest definition F600HD…

SeeSaw – Brit Hulu offers up some tasty TV

The new SeeSaw online television service is in beta at the moment, and I have to say it’s not half bad. The interface is slick polished commercial, the program search and accessibility is instant, and who can complain about 19 episodes of the IT Crowd, 11 of Fawlty Towers and 52 glorious Red Dwarf shows? Just for starters.   There’s a mix of free and fee content available (£1.19 for Earth: The Power of the Planet for instance) and the…

Kylo – the free web browser for your kick-back big TV screen needs

Kylo is a free big screen web browser designed to make it easy to surf and turf on a big screen television. We’re talking big buttons, low clutter, large on-screen keyboard and a zoom and pan feature. So we now have custom browsers for tiny mobile phone screens and also for super large living room screens, and it makes perfect sense. The idea of a single standard browser for all environments is not sensible, although I do wonder how hard it would be…

Nowmov – YouTube streamed to your face, 24/7

Nowmov is one of those aaaargghh compulsive watching things. It’s basically nothing more than a constant stream of YouTube video clips coming at you in a steady…oh no switch it off…remorseless…please, my eyes….stream. No stop button. No rewind or fast forward. Just go. Go. Go. Don’t watch this unless you have a LOT of time to spare. It is the crack cocaine of online multimedia. You have been warned. Tags: nowmov, video, youtube

WebM – open source video standard comes to the web at last

The mighty Google has just announced the WebM Project, which delivers an open source (i.e. non-proprietary) video standard for the Web which will allow people to embed and view any kind of video content without worrying about patent lawyers, licenses and all that sort of stuff. The eventual idea is to have a <video> tag, just like <html>, which will let anyone embed a video clip in a web page free from licensing or patent restrictions. What, you didn’t realise…
