Chargie – worried about damaging your phone battery by over charging? This neat gadget has you covered.

Most of us have this secret fear of over-charging our phone battery, right? That’s why we unplug when we can, try not to leave the phone charging overnight and make sure to charge up before the battery has drained completely. But it can be hard to keep it up, which means that our phone battery often degrades faster than it could or should. Now there’s a new gadget which could solve that problem nicely. The Chargie is a small USB gadget which sits  between your charger and the phone. Once installed and running its Bluetooth app on your phone, it manages the charging cycle to ensure optimum performance. For instance you can set it to only charge up to 70% max at night, and then top up to 100% just before you wake up. Neat eh? You can also set it to manage a lower charging rate if your phone is in direct sunlight, say on your car dashboard doing duty for GPS navigation, so your battery doesn’t overheat.

Yes you could probably do all this yourself manually, but who has the time? For a one off price of £26.18, it sounds like a pretty cool investment to us.
