That there new fangled Pinterest thingy has got some answering to do. Not content with having the online world run around ‘pinning’ everything in sight to their boards, the interface has also spawned an unbelievably wide range of copycat services, all based on easy to the eye image blocks.
The latest iteration is Chartbrain, which takes the concept and applies it to a music jukebox. In fact it’s nothing more than an artfully curated UI front for YouTube, but the way it’s been done is very clever. The service revolves around eight music charts, including iTunes, Billboard and Hype Machine. Select one, click on the play music button and you’ll receive an autoplayed selection of tracks culled from YouTube.
It’s easy, quick and full of great sounds. And of course it’s all wrapped up in that delicious Pinterest interface.
