The dangers of brain concussion in athletes have been increasing in the past few years. Almost all sports (especially American Football is seems) have the potential for injury to impact the most important part of the body, the brain. These concussions can lead to permanent injuries in the long run, which means there’s a big need for something to monitor blows to the head before they become life threatening.
The new CHECKLIGHT skullcap can be used in any sport where the head area is vulnerable. It can be worn under a helmet or on its own. The safety cap uses accelerometers and gyroscopes to monitor the exact number of impacts directly to your head, not the helmet or any other protective gear.
It also alerts you during a game when you receive an impact above the threshold. A moderate impact is signalled by a yellow light while a severe impact is notified by a red light. When both lights flash at the same time it means the player should be removed from the play immediately.
The CHECKLIGHT is available for $149.98 via Reebok Store.
