Are cites really bad for the environment? Should we all be living in the country, spaced out? Well, as it turns out, no. Although there are many reasons why, turns out living in the city reduces the individual carbon footprint.
City dwellers save a lot of carbon in their transportation. They don’t have to go as far and have access to public transportation. But it’s also not fair to say that people who live in rural areas are just creating a ton of emissions by skipping down to the store. The real culprit is corporate.
In rural areas there’s more factories and the like that are putting out a ton of emissions. There aren’t many factories in urban areas, instead they have offices. So, no, living in a city isn’t bad, nor is living in a rural area. The real issue is industry and its emissions.
