Clean out your laptop’s fan to make it run cool and quiet

Laptops are great. Before they became widely available in the 90’s, your only option to use a computer was at a desk in very specific locations. Now you can just toss your notebook in a bag and pull it out wherever you need it. Unfortunately one major issue that plagues may such devices is their propensity to get hot. After all, no one wants a hot laptop scorching their legs. Thankfully the people over at PC World have put together a nice little guide that will help you keep your portable computer cool and quiet.

The fix is easier than you might think. Sure, you can get fancy notebook coolers, but those aren’t dealing with the root problem. Namely, the fan inside your laptop is probably caked with dust. The trick is to remove the access panel (if your laptop has one) and blowing out all of that dust. You’ll be surprised just how much of a difference this makes in your everyday use.
