Cloudmagic gives you the ultimate power of search everywhere [Daily Freeware]

Cloudmagic

The problem with computers is they generate data, lots and lots of data. Not only that, but they store this stuff everywhere, on your computer, on the web (aka the Cloud), on remote network machines, on Internet services. That makes it tricky to retrieve the right bit of data, when you want it, because first you’ve got to remember where the heck it’s stored.

The new CloudMagic service is a hybrid download, browser addon and cloud service which lets you search across multiple web services and apps to find what you need. At the moment the four services are limited to Gmail, Google Apps, Microsoft Exchange and Twitter, but it’s clear the developers intend to extend the list as they go.

There are also mobile versions of the service for iOS and Android, which gives the same sort of search power from your smartphone. It’s got a nice interface and all that, but it’s still a little limited without local PC search as part of the feature set. It’s clearly focused on email, and if we remember correctly, Google has some sort of search engine which might do the job on Google applications quite well.

Anyway, if you’re an Exchange user, the app probably makes more sense, and we like the fact that you can search through documents without worrying on which server they’re stored. One to watch perhaps?
