Coffee Joulies keep your cup of Joe at the perfect temperature

Sometimes, coffee can make or break your morning before and at work. That extra jolt of caffeine in the morning can set things right, but a bad cup of Joe can sometimes bring out the worst in people. Worst case scenario is getting the perfect cup of coffee, and by the time you finally get to drink it, it’s sitting at room temperature or cold.

Someone with some serious passion for keeping their coffee at a tolerably hot level might be able to save the day with the Coffee Joulie. This stainless steel coffee bean-shaped gizmo has 5oz of phase change material in the middle that will melt at 140 degrees. Once it hits coffee greater than this temperature, the material will essentially suck up the excess heat and bring your beverage to a drinkable level. Everyones main worry is keeping it hot though, so to quell those fears, the Joulie will also release the heat it steals from the excess heat after it starts to get below 140 degrees, thus keeping your coffee hot longer. It is a very fancy rock at its core, but it is a very useful rock that should make it to production. The Kickstarter fund has already passed its goal (by nearly threefold), so we should see these for sale sometime in the future, for $50 for a set of four.
