Connection Checker saves battery life by disconnecting poor WiFi connections

Smartphones are wonderful devices, since they can do so very many things. Unfortunately they are only as good as their battery, as a dead phone is pretty much useless. You can always get special cases that act as a backup battery, or carry a spare with you, but that can be a hassle. Another method to extend the life of your phone is to find out what’s draining your power, and stop it, using Connection Checker.

If you own an Android phone, there’s a great little app that you can download, which might help you squeeze some extra juice out of the device. One of the biggest drains on a battery can be a poor WiFi connection. Thus, this app detects when you have a poor WiFi signal, and instead of spending all of the power trying to maintain the connection, it will switch you over to a more stable 3G/4G connection. What’s more is that if you’re not getting any signal, it will switch your phone to airplane mode, then back again when the signal is better. The app is free, which means there’s no reason not to give it a chance, if you’re having battery life issues.
