Cracked Log Lamp – it’s big, it’s heavy, it’s wood

Cracked Log Lamp

You can make a fire with just one log. There’s a whole system to it. If you want the same look but don’t want to actually go outside, check out the Cracked Log Lamp, the lamp that mimics a Swedish torch.

This lamp is a really unique piece that’s made out of salvaged timber. Turns out that wood naturally cracks even under the best of circumstances. These flawed bits are no good for making lumber and are usually burnt up which probably means they are just turned into charcoal. Instead of that fate, these logs are given new purpose in the form of lamps.

A bright light is inserted into the lamp to make it glow from its natural cracks. When not in use, it looks like, well a log. A normal, made of wood log which, depending on your décor, might actually be nice. As neat as this is, it still might be a little strange to have a log in your living room. The Cracked Log Lamp is $280.

  • These are called “splits”, not “cracks”. If they were concrete or plastic, they would be correct. Maybe it’s an Australian thing…

    • It might be. Or maybe “Split Log Lamp” didn’t sound as good. Actually that kind of makes it seem like it’s in two parts, doesn’t it?
