Delorme inReach Two-Way Sattelite Communicator – Can you hear me now?

inReach

Have you ever reached a spot where your cellphone service wasn’t very strong? It’s not really a big deal, seeing as you don’t necessarily have to send that text message for another 10 minutes, but what would you do if you were in need of serious help? There are a variety of situations a phone that could always send out an SOS message could be useful, but especially so if you are out in the wilderness with no one with you.

The Delorme inReach SE Two-Way Satellite Communicator is one way to make sure you don’t ever hit a weak spot or low signal ever again. It says that it will have pole-to-pole coverage at all times due to using the Iridium satellite communications network. This will allow you to send out 160 character free-form text messages to cellphones, emails, and other inReach users. The display is in color, and measures 1.8 inches. From there you’ll be able to send your messages, post things to social media sites, or track your way-points so family and friends can have an idea of where you are. It will cost you $300, but if you go out hiking on possibly dangerous terrain, this could be quite useful.
