Digitizing Line DL-3000 Book Scanner – aka the fastest in the world

The Digitizing Line DL-3000 Book Scanner is billed as the fastest book scanner in the world. Since it offers a maximum of 3000 pages per hour, which equates to something like an average paperback every 6 to 7 minutes, we’re not going to argue. It’s big though, so you may want to measure up the spare bedroom before handing over your pension money. Oh and it costs around $250,000 I believe.

Suitable for recent and old books # Safety of the book validated by experts in book preservation # Handles books with various paper thickness, texture, porosity and soft or rigid covers # Turns and scans 1500 to 3000 pages per hour in unattended operation # Overall productivity is incomparably higher than any manual operator # Handles books that open normally and books that close spontaneously # Ensures that only one page is turned at a time

  • Heh I bet a few book pirates will have one of theese.

    • Heh, I don't know Peter, a quarter of a mil for a free copy of Harry Potter may be a bit steep for some. :-) (but I know what you mean – heh)

    • Yeah, but how many hits on there advert/spyware laden site could they get with that free copy? nothing against this machine, just wondering how long it takes before some anti-book piracy group comes out, and ruins books

    • Yeah those anti book piracy people can be jerks. They shut down everyone who offers books to read without paying into the authors/publishers royalties. I just wish there were a place I could go to get a copy of a book and read it without paying. If only there were somewhere that would sort of allow me to 'check out' a book and then return it without paying for it.

    • @SJ – tsk! :-)
