Discov3ry: game changing add-on for 3D printing lets you print with anything from Nutella to Latex

Do you love food? Do you love fancy food such as cakes decorated so precisely they look like art and feel almost criminal to eat? Me too. So I was incredibly stoked to see that Structur3d Printing has pioneered a way to print with frosting using a 3D printer. Up till now 3D printers have mostly been confined to printing using some kind of plastic only, but not any more.

Although I’m most excited about taking my pastry game to the next level, the Discov3ry is not a machine based solely in delicious dessert construction. It’s actually “a universal paste extruder for 3D Printers”. So yes, you can print frosting but you can also use it to print silicone, Latex and drywall for more practical uses in the home. Suddenly  3D printers may actually be useful for the rest of us.

With the assortment of material that it can work with, including clay and silicone as well as a host of other wet materials, this ad on device, which fits most popular 3D printers, has gained an assortment of everyday uses even outside of the kitchen. The product is in its Kickstarter stage but it is set to ship in December. If you have a 3D printer this could take it to the next level. If you don’t, this could be your excuse to buy one.
