We’ve talked about how the phone in your pocket or on your desk is actually a little computer. When you put it on the charger at night, all that computing power is sitting dormant. Now you can put it to good use with DreamLab, the app that uses your phone to crunch research data.
This is another crowdsource of science. This one is using the computing power of your phone as an extra computer for solving problems like cancer. All you have to do is download the app, and it does the rest. When you plug your phone into charge, it will download a small package which it will work on while you’re sleeping (or dreaming, get it?).
Obviously you have to be connected to the internet so it would probably be a good idea to be on wi-fi. You can pick what projects you “work” on and the app keeps track how much you’ve contributed to different research projects. If you want to help, the app is free for android users.
