Droid-Break – free and open source alternatives to proprietary Android apps [Freeware]

droidbreak

There are a gazillion Android apps out there on the Google Play market, but it’s still a chore trying to find something to suit your needs. Especially when the market is dominated by the big brands like Skype, Chrome and the rest. But we’ve found a neat little site which can even the score a little.

Droid-Break offers up a nice list of free and open source alternatives to the proprietary products on the Play market. So instead of using Skype, for example, you could pick up an alternative like RedPhone or LinPhone and give that a go as a voice chat tool.

You get some nice additional information as well as links to the apps, in the form of helpful comments, the minimum Android version which is supported and a link to the actual source code in case you want to fork an improved version yourself.

The site is clean, functional and useful, so definitely worth a bookmark.
