Drop In Coal Numbers – after decades, this power source is dropping just a bit

In case you didn’t realize, coal is bad for the environment. Burning it as a fuel source causes a ton of emissions. Mining it isn’t great either as it causes life long health problems for the people who do. There’s a glimmer of good news though, for the first time in decades, there’s been a drop in coal based electricity production. Yay!

The drop is small, really small. Only 3% but that’s a start! Keep in mind that coal is a HUGE part of our energy production and is a staple in many communities. In fact entire communities are built around coal and depend on it to stay afloat. That being said, it’s still bad.

The world isn’t de-coaling evenly. Where many nations with more resources are dropping at a faster rate while other places are increasing. We still have a long way to go but this is hopeful news and every little bit counts!
