DyeCoo – dyeing without water?

The textile industry is responsible for a lot of pollution. It’s a huge problem and one that many people are trying to combat. DyeCoo is the company that looked at how to we color fabric and decided to go water free. Their process uses reclaimed Co2 and has virtually no waste.

There is no water, waste or otherwise, involved in this dying process which pretty much goes against everything you probably know about dying fabric. Instead they use highly pressurized, reclaimed Co2 and pure dyes. There is no water or process chemicals to speak of.

The CO2 comes from other industrial processes and the system is a closed loop so it does not create the waste seen in other dying operations. It’s cheaper and more efficient than other dying processes according to the company. You can see it in action below.
