EcoXBT – the rugged waterproof speaker that surprisingly doesn’t sound awful [Review]

ecoxbt2

Yeah we know, it’s December and those of us in the North are suffering with cold dreary weather. But think back to the warmer months and time covered in tanning lotion, a nice pool of water reflecting the sun, a cool drink by your side, great tunes streaming ….and maybe dreams of me.

OK maybe not, and it’s unlikely you had cool music near the pool either, because as we know water and electronics don’t go together too well. Until now that is.

Enter the EcoXBT by EcoXGear – a high performance Bluetooth speaker that sounds great and remains buoyant if dropped in water (In layman terms *it floats*).

Buoyancy is one thing but how does the EcoXBT sound? Having a floating speaker will not score you many points with your audience if it sounds like a typical [insert choice of word…. bad…crappy… you get the picture] Bluetooth speaker. I am happy to report that this is not a concern with EcoXBT, which sounds surprisingly great.

Clearly the EcoXBT does have some limitations. A you would expect from any speaker of this size, it fails to deliver window rattling bass. While the volume it pumps out is pretty decent, you still wouldn’t want to bring an EcoXBT to your neighborhood hip hop dance off. On the other hand, the long battery life is a nice feature.

Other uses – makes a perfect accessory for a golf cart, it can withstand the rain for hiking, and due to its rugged design, a tantrum by the golfer.

Features

– Bluetooth range of about 50′ (15M)
– Cell phone speakerphone
– 6W of power
– Rechargeable battery that lasts about 10 hours
– Built in carabiner

So now you can have it all – great tunes streaming while you are frolicking by water…. but be warned…. dreams of me are not included. The product has a street price of $119.99.
