EKOCycle – make the world a better place one 3D print at a time

EKOCYCLE Cube 3D printer

3D printing is super cool. You can do so much with it. What if you could make the world a cleaner place with every piece of jewelry or tiny figure you make? That’s the goal of the EKOCycle, the 3D printer that that uses recycled plastic to make your creations.

This 3D printer turns waste products into wearables. Each cartridge is three plastic bottles. This means as you’re creating, you’re also doing the world a favor by not creating more trash that needs to be cleaned up. You’re a good person! 25% of its cartridge is made from PET bottles. The kind that end up in landfills all the time.

This printer can be used directly from your phone and does not need to be hooked onto a computer but it can be if that’s how you like to work. It works quickly, about two times faster than other printers. You can use a full range of colors with this printer and really, you’re only limited by your imagination. The EKOCycle is $1,199.

  • For those like me who are not fast to understand technical matters, this printer doesnt actually recycle bottles into filaments. It just uses proprietary filament cartdridges alledgelly made of recycled material.

Since this brand of cartdrige has a heavy plastic casing you’re supposed to dispose of or send back after the filament is finished, I’m not sure it’s ecologically sound when tou do the math.

And actually you don’t know, reading the provided material, if 25% recycled parts are in the casing or the filament….

They’d better sell recycled filament you can use on any printer and cartdridges where most of the mass is in the filament, not the casing, to spare the back and forth shipping costs. That would be an ecological step forward.

Oh the beauty of marketing !
