Fair play or naivet?

The Fair Play campaign is asking gamers not to buy any games at all for the week beginning 1st December. The idea is that by doing so, the poor ripped off punters will force the game publishing industry to lower the price of games to a more reasonable 20.00 each rather than 40.00.

I’m not that convinced. I still think that game prices follow a pretty traditional trend – high at launch, plummeting over time to a very reasonable fee considering the development time involved. If you’re so keen to buy a game on release at 40.00 when you can pick it up for half that six months later, that’s really your look out, isn’t it?

But of course that’s only my opinion and I may be missing the big picture entirely.
