Fast Food Chains Called Out – to help curb the climate change they cause

There’s been a lot of focus on food when it comes to helping climate change. Not just farming practices but transport and supply systems. Along pretty much every step, food is at the root of a lot of emissions. Now groups are turning to fast food chains to help push some big changes to help lower emissions.

Fast food spots, like McDonald’s, are being called on to make changes in how they supply their restaurants in order to lower their carbon footprints. This isn’t really a new thing, years ago, fast food was called out for destroying rain forests to make room for cattle farming.

This is a little different because investors, not protesters, are calling for the chains to make sure steps are implemented on the supply side to lower emissions and protect ground water from the associated risks of cattle and poultry farming. This is a needed measure as in order to really combat climate change, big companies need to step up and make big changes.
