First manned electric multicopter flight is a success

Usually when you think about a helicopter, you imagine a craft with a couple of large, spinning blades keeping you aloft. Of course, those machines are rather large, and extremely expensive. But what if you decided to rig a bunch of smaller blades together, and mount them on a smaller craft? As you can see in the video below, you would be able to fly.

A group of three Germans has been hard at work developing what they call an e-multicoptor. They recently conducted their first manned flight, which while short, was a complete success. The e-multicoptor consists of sixteen individual propellers, which can each operate at varying speeds. The entire machine is completely electric, and is considered an ultralight craft. It still has a long way to go, but in a few years, you may start seeing these crop up in your area.
