FixWin 2.0 for Windows 8 – cool little utility fixes Windows 8 annoyances with a click [Freeware]

The people at Microsoft may have made the Windows platform more stable (forgetting Vista of course), but that doesn’t mean it’s fault free. The fact is the new versions can still be very annoying, which is why it’s always good to hear about tools which can help make them work better.

FixWin 2.0 for Windows 8 is a tiny free software utility which provides around 50 fixes for common and not so common Windows issues and problems. The program follows on from the popular FixWin for Windows 7 & Vista, which has a lot of fans, and focuses on specific Win 8 features such as the App Store and the new UI.

Unfortunately it won’t improve the dire state of the overall Windows 8 experience, or the chronic lack of performance from all the bloatware you have to wade through, but if you’re looking for a quick fix for things like non-working Internet connections, or missing menu elements in the bowels of the system, then this is definitely a great place to start.

We haven’t tested the Windows 8 version yet, but if it’s as solid as the Win 7 version, which we have tried, then it could get you out of a jam when it counts.
