Fly6 – bicycle tail light and HD camera combo keeps cyclists safe and makes motorists more careful

One day motorists and cyclists will be great friends, and the two will enjoy each other’s company, get invited to weddings together and all kinds of nice stuff. But at the moment there’s definitely some work needed to make sure the two can co-exist on the road in a spirit of harmony, and this clever product may help.

The Fly6 is a bicycle tail light and HD camera combo, which not only acts as a conventional rear illumination lamp, but also takes looping high definition video of all activity behind the bicycle as it happens. The footage is clear enough to pick out number plates on cars, and judging by some of the footage on the company’s website, it’s needed at times.

The unit offers 5 hours record time from a single charge, and comes complete with an 8 GB microSD card for video storage already in the box. The resolution is 1280×720 at 30 frames per second in .avi format, and the lens is wide angle at 130 degrees. Every clip is time and date stamped (useful for legal purposes) and the lamp itself is a bright 15 lumens. The device is currently being sold for $159 plus shipping.

  • I think you killed the fish!

    • I was trying to think what you meant for a moment, but then it clicked. You mean on their promo video? I hope they didn’t. It looks like the fish was just resting, can’t see why it would die from a bit of inert plastic being inserted into the tank.
