Work is easy right? All you’ve got to do is sit down, focus your attention and…hey wow there’s a pic of kittens. Oh and the world’s largest ball of spaghetti just got stolen, and whoa, J-Lo is shopping again…. Yep, work is easy, just as long as you don’t have other stuff getting in the way.
Focus Booster aims to help us poor distracted mortals by hitching the power of time to our side. Based on the Pomodoro Technique of time management, the freeware program, which is available for PC, Mac and online, cuts tasks into handy little 25 minute chunks, with breaks in between.
You set up a timer for each task, and then follow the alerts as they happen. In this way you can break things up, avoid getting over tired and maintain your fresh creativity over a longer span. Well that’s the theory anyway. The original Pomodoro program uses a physical timer which looks like a cute little tomato (hence the name, eh?) so this is an attempt to move the concept into the digital age.
The program installs as an Adobe Air app, which you may love or hate, but for those with an aversion to downloading stuff, there’s the online version which you can play with for free as well. This could be a nice solution for those folks who are in the market for some kind of structure to help cope with the pressures of the day. It’s simple, clean and requires almost no effort at all. Just remember to set the clock and carry on as usual.
