Sony’s FourthView 360 degree panorama technology for video, seems to be a tech in search of an application. The company is hawking it around as a new gaming platform, but the only stuff that appears to be available is some rather dubious ‘glamour’ material on DVD for the PS2. It looks quite impressive though – you can pan, zoom, freeze etc the video stream as you want, which of course makes for very interesting interactivity way beyond multiple camera angles. Now if only they could push it in some genuinely useful direction.
