Framed Narrative Puzzle Game – Digital graphic novel or a new type of game?

Framed Narrative Puzzle Game

Is it a game? A graphic novel in digital format? How about a little bit of both? If you’re looking for something a little different in the entertainment department, you’re going to want to keep an eye on this.

The Framed Narrative Puzzle Game is a different type of game that offers a different way of playing games. With a stylish noir feel to it, you’ll think the character is smuggling the Maltese Falcon for Sam Spade. If that’s too many old-school references for your comfort, just look at it this way. The game is set up like a comic book – or graphic novel for the comic snobs out there – and each comic-style panel depicts an important action or event. The fun comes when you get to choose which events happen in what order. Want the cop to walk by on patrol as your guy tries to make his escape or have him stroll by after the shadowy character is long gone? The choice is up to you. The events happen but you get to decide when.

Set to some smooth-sounding jazz music (told you this was a different type of game), the player switches panels around, altering the direction of the game with each change, creating a multitude of different scenarios that can be played out.

Framed isn’t available at the moment, but the brains behind it expect to have it on Steam and Apple’s app store some time next year.
