Fuelly – track, share and compare your car’s fuel consumption

Fuelly

Fuelly is a groovy new online service to help you track your car’s fuel consumption. Set up an account, add your car/s, and every time you fill up, enter in your trip or odometer reading and fuel quantity. The service then calculates a running mileage figure for your vehicle that you can admire, discuss and try to improve over time.

I love it, because it’s a classic case of using the power of the web community to help improve some small aspect of our lives, in this case economic and ecological. The site copes with motorbikes too, which is an excellent way to compare how badly modern bikes do on gas consumption compared to the old days.

The other cool thing is you can enter in the figures from your mobile phone using a special portal (or an iPhone app), so there’s no excuse for not updating your stats on the spot when you refuel to find out how you’re doing. Oh and it’s international in currency, cars and fuels, so again no excuse not to take advantage.

An excellent web application and beautifully done. Nice one Matt and Paul.

Fuelly is a site that tracks your gas mileage over time, helping you save fuel and expenses as you drive. Fuelly was built by Matt and Paul in a little over two weeks during July 2008. The idea started with building a MPG history calculator app, but making it web-based and multi-user so you could compare cars and drivers across the system.
