Game Booster 2 – ace freeware utility instantly optimizes your PC for games and video play

We were big fans of the first version of this product back in the day, and now they’ve updated it to Game Booster Version 2 – and it’s awesome. The freeware basically shuts down all unnecessary processes running on your Windows PC, to optimise memory and processor for playing games. It also works brilliantly for movie playback, which is great if you regularly plug your laptop into your TV as an ad hoc movie player .

The superb thing about the new version is it also checks on your drivers and makes sure you upgrade them where necessary (it supplies direct links to the driver pages for your machine, which is awesome) so you are totally up to date.

The software does everything automatically for you, all you have to do is select from the list which processes you want to stop (I tend to do almost all of them apart from things like the trackpad one) and push the slider to activate.

Funny thing is, you really notice how much quicker Windows is generally without all the crud running in memory, and I’ve actually got the software running now with no ill effects. It means that I’ve not got all my ‘helper’ apps running in memory, but right now I’m not missing any of them (although I may set it to leave Launchy running in Game Mode later on). Excellent tool and most definitely a keeper.

Designed to help optimize your PC for smoother, more responsive game play in the latest PC games with the touch of a button, Game Booster helps achieve the performance edge previously only available to highly technical enthusiasts. It works by updating hardware drivers, downloading essential gaming tools, tweaking system settings for gaming, defragmenting game directories, temporarily shutting down background processes, cleaning RAM, and intensifying processor performance.
