Geoengineering To Save The Planet – radical ideas to buy time in the climate crisis

The icecaps are melting and that’s a major problem for a variety of reasons. One being the rising sea levels but another being that losing the reflective poles will make our planet warmer. Some people want to save the ice by geoengineering. Most of their ideas aren’t really feasible but man are they cool.

Geoengineering is a large scale project meant to change a natural state of the Earth. Like building a dam to block the flow of a river but instead of a river, it’s the Arctic ocean. They’re massive concepts which make them very, very hard to actually implement. In these cases, the target is a very large glacier

One concept wants to build a wall between a large glacier and the water that is breaking it down, another wants to pump water from beneath the glacier to keep it from melting. On a small scale, sure but on the scale that they would need to accomplish this goal, well the technology isn’t really up to the task but you never know what the future will bring!
