It’s been many years since I’ve worn a wristwatch. Since I always carry a phone, I’ve really no need to carry a device whose only purpose is to tell the time, unless I’m just wanting to be fashionable. For those instances, I usually go with a pocket watch. However, I do believe I’ve stumbled across one of the coolest wristwatches that I’ve ever seen. Behold the Cathode Nixie Watch.
There’s something about the Nixie tube that strikes a sense of awe or wonder into those that observe one. They have a sort of retro-futuristic look about them. Well now you can get a watch that has two of the smallest tubes, so that you can show off your amazingly geeky side. With only room for two tubes, you’ll have to see the hours and numbers separately. To conserve battery life, it will only display the current time when the watch is moved to a certain angle, which only adds to the interest of the timepiece. Unfortunately the $395 price tag will keep this out of the hands of most.
