Google adds official handwriting support in applications – bad typists rejoice

According to the Official Gmail Blog, Google has just added support for handwriting input for Gmail, Google Docs and other Google applications. As of today it is available 20 languages for Google Docs and 50 for Gmail, which means that users with a mouse or trackpad can add a personal touch to mail, sign documents or add characters not present on the keyboard.

It’s also great for tablet users of course. The new addition even works with Google Translate so a person can copy characters they do not recognize and then translate them into a language they understand.

“Handwriting input makes the internet easier to use by people worldwide and is also part of a larger effort to break the barrier between languages, check it out in Google Mobile Search, Google Translate (Web, Android and iOS), and the Chrome browser.”

There is no word on when support will be available for those of us whose handwriting is simply untranslatable.
