Google Street View Trekker Projects – fancy exploring the world with a borrowed camera on your back?

googletrekker2

Google is once again boldly going where no-one else would ever dare tread, by setting up a new Google Street View Trekker Project. The idea is simple. If you’re part of a group or organization such as a non-profit, tourist board or research group, you can apply to borrow the famous Google Trekker backpack camera to create amazing Street View journeys in wild, rugged and fascinating locations.

It is, once again, an act of genius, because it gives people with a passion the chance to share that passion with the world, while those of us with more sedentary habits can sit back in comfort and enjoy visiting places we’ll never have a chance to visit in this lifetime.

Clearly there’s going to be a huge demand to get on the list, and we’d love to know what criteria a successful proposal has to have, but even so the possibilities to visit some of the globe’s most incredible places are amazing and we can’t wait to see which ones make the cut.
