Hama Zero Solar Powered Bike – 220 km of travel for just 2 Yen

The Hama Zero Solar Powered Bike can travel for 220 kilometres for a cost of 2 Yen ($0.02). That makes it rather cheap to run, right? Top speed is 72 km/h and it takes 20 days to charge up. We jest, but note that the video does say you use mains power to charge when it’s a cloudy day. Interesting product, and notice the ultra frictionless wheel tech. We could see that in other products soon maybe?

“Here’s the solar panel, on the back of the bike. If you commute 50 km each way, for example, you can ride to work in the morning, and leave the bike to charge during the day. When it’s time to go home, the bike is fully charged. So your commute, both ways, costs you nothing.”
