Hobbit Chicken Coop – add a little bit of the Shires to your garden

When the chips are down, you definitely need eggs. And of course the best way to harvest the little critters is to get your own personal laying factory in place. Which is where this very cute Hobbit Chicken Coop, from US artisans Wooden Wonders, comes into play.

The proper name for it is the Lightfoot Coop With Attached Run, but since it’s clearly based around a small dwelling somewhere in Hobbiton, we’ll keep calling it what it is. The hand made coop can hold up to 8 chickens depending on breed, which should deliver enough eggs to last a good hour or so each day.

The thing is made of sustainable white pine, and what we like is the fact that it has a ‘chicken tractor’ option, which means you can move it around your yard on wheels to use the chicken manure as fertilizer for your growing things. The coop comes fully assembled, except for the run bit, and features predator proofing throughout, an insulated cold weather floor option and a two to four week delivery time. Oh and it will cost you $1595 for the base product, but just think of those awesome omelets!
