Horizon H Cell – fuel cells for remote control cars

horizon rc fuel cell

Horizon make a range of fuel cells for numerous applications, including remote control cars. The Horizon H-Cell RC Fuel Cell, comes with three metal hydride, hydrogren gas canisters and a you-beaut fuel cell power unit with light emitting fans for extra cool cooling. The Fuel Cell system slots into the same space as the Tamiya 7.2V NiCad battery on the Tamiya TT-01 model car chassis and is powered by three hydrogen cylinders each holding 10L of hydrogen. Together they’re good for 65 – 70 minutes of runtime on a single charge of gas, pumping out a maximum of 33W.

There’s a bit of a downside though. The small hydrogen cylinders are very high-tech and to refill them you’ll need a full sized hydrogen cylinder, a bit of hardware and a bit of do-it-yourself knowledge. So it’s probably only for the dedicated hobbyist in the family. That all being said, it’s still pretty darn cool

Horizon built on its expertise in small-size fuel cell power systems to create a unique hydrogen fuel cell upgrade kit called the H-cell, designed for well-known battery powered model RC hobby cars you can buy in your local hobby store.
