There are many people out there that would consider grilling to not be merely a form of cooking, but an art. You have to get the flames just right, flip your food at the right times, and not leave it on too long. If you’re someone who likes to be very precise about your grilling, (rather than just eyeballing it, which some people swear by) then here’s a gadget just for you.
iGrill is a companion gadget for your iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch. It consists of a thermometer, which you insert into the meat, and an app that you install on your mobile device. The two keep in contact via Bluetooth, so that you aren’t tied to the grill the entire time.
The app itself seems pretty robust. Not content with simply telling you the temperature of your meat, it also lets you know the optimal temperature for what you’re cooking, and how long until it will be finished cooking. You’ll just need to set the type of meat, and whether you’d like it to be medium rare, medium well, etc. It seems to take a lot of guesswork out of grilling, and makes sure that you don’t accidentally forget about your food, and overcook it. For $100, this seems like a great gift for the beginner and seasoned pro alike.
