Indus – the microalgae wall that cleans water

Who says pollution solutions can’t be beautiful? Indus is a water pollution cleaning system made from ceramic tiles and algae. The resulting wall is very aesthetically pleasing and may prove to be a low cost way of dealing with dyes and chemicals.

The system is made from modular tiles that have been nested with microalgae. Water is able to pass through the barrier and as it does, the algae cleans it. It is meant to deal with chemicals and dyes, basically the run off from textile manufacturing.

The water may need to be fed through the system a number of times in order to be fully cleansed, the project is still in development but if it does in fact work out, then this could be a low cost alternative for cleaning water and very easy to install and maintain as well.
