With the rise of flat panel TVs, it has become more and more common for people to mount their screens on the wall. This does away with the need for large entertainment centers, and only requires a couple of shelves to house a cable box and/or gaming system. However, what if you want the cleanest look possible, and want to remove those additional devices from sight? Such a task isn’t terribly hard, and they can be tucked away in a nearby closet, or in a cabinet (just don’t forget to have good airflow around the device). The trouble comes when you try and use a remote with your fancy new Blu-ray player that’s hiding in the closet. Namely, without line-of-sight, the remote won’t work.

A company called Sewell has what they believe to be the perfect solution for this dilemma. What this InjectIR does is takes an unused CEC channel from your existing HDMI cable, and sends an IR signal through it. All you have to do is attach the device to the HDMI cable running from your device to the TV, and position the small IR receiver somewhere near the TV. It will then relay the signal from your remote to the device. At $45, this could be a great tool if you’re trying to minimize the clutter in your living room.
