Internet Archives Console Games – free retro games in your browser offer too much fun

It’s totally ridiculous how far computer games have come in a mere 30 years, but that’s not to say that snazzy graphics and out of this world audio is all you need for a great video game. Back in the 80s there were some games which were just as addictive as today’s offerings, even if they lacked the polish we expect nowadays.

The wonderful Internet Archive knows this, which is probably the reason they’ve launched the Console Living Room, which is a collection of some classic console games from the 70s and 80s. These games were blockbusters of the time, and now you can play them for free in your browser, using the keyboard as a controller.

Atari classics such as Donkey Kong, Dig Dug and Breakout are on offer as well as games from the Magnavox, ColecoVision and Astrocade (who?) consoles. If you’re looking for a way to waste some serious amounts of time over the next few days, and relive some history, this is as good a way as any.

Don’t say we didn’t warn you though!
