If you have a lot of valuable data stored on an external drive, what happens if the drive is accidentally destroyed? You’d better hope you have backups. Of course, if you’re really protective of your information, you’ll also make very sure that nothing happens to that drive. One way to do that is to put it in a nigh-indestructible case. That’s exactly what the ioSafe is for.

The ioSafe is an external hard drive that is encased in your choice of Aluminum or Titanium and is crush resistant up to 5000 lbs, chemical resistant, shock resistant, and can even survive up to 72 hours while submerged in ten feet of water. That’s some safe data. You can get your choice of solid-state or traditional disk-based drives, though I’d probably go with the SSD if you’re that worried about your data. For connectivity, they’ve put in USB 3.0 and Firewire so you don’t have to wait around to transfer files.

The downside here is obviously the cost. The least expensive is a 250GB 5400RPM drive at $150. Unfortunately we don’t have pricing on the SSD models just yet.
