iPega Quad Core HD Gaming Console – Android throws down another challenge to the major game device brands

Android’s everywhere nowadays, in fridges, toasters, washing machines and your Aunt Maude’s curling tongs, so we’re totally not surprised to see it coming out in force on handheld gaming consoles. There have been a number of major devices announced, but this is the first we’ve seen from a Far Eastern brand trying to break the scene.

The iPega Quad Core HD Gaming Console is a 7 inch, 1280×800, 1.6Ghz quad core handheld which comes with 2 GB of RAM and 8 GB of on-board storage running Android 4.2. The device comes with all the usual gaming stuff, including D-pad, twin joysticks and buttons, plus a front facing camera.

It supports up to 64 GB of microSD expansion, has integrated WiFi (of course) and HDMI video output for hooking up to your TV. The battery is 4000 mAh, and you can connect external OTG accessories via the USB port, for adding things like external hard drives etc. All in all, a pretty well specced beast at a price of just $199. Games come courtesy of the Google Play store. But you knew that anyway, didn’t you?
