iPhone LiveRider adds a HUD to your bike

I’m waiting for warmer weather for a lot of reasons, including the ability to go biking again without being frozen. It’s a great way to exercise, and a pretty decent way to get around town, depending on where you live. But wouldn’t it be nice to have information like your speed, distance traveled and time spent riding? You can, if you have the iPhone LiveRider.

The LiveRider is a combination of an app and a few pieces of special hardware. A rugged case that mounts on your handlebars lets you see all of the necessary information about your ride, while a sensor mounted near your rear wheel (along with a magnet attached to one of your spokes) feeds the phone data on your speed and pedal cadence. Along with the features listed above, you can keep track of calories burned, as well as a fun Chase Rider function, which allows you to compete against yourself when you’re taking the same route on a regular basis.

The $100 price tag might seem steep, so you’ll want to make sure you’re serious about biking if you’re going to make this purchase.
