Jabra Solemate Max – now you can crowdsource your party music

Bluetooth wireless speakers are ten a penny nowadays (that means they’re everywhere for those of you in Peru), so it’s getting hard for companies to try and differentiate their models without adding silly stuff like glow in the dark colors or animal shapes. Props to Jabra therefore, for trying to do something genuinely interesting.

The Jabra Solemate Max is, on the face of it, a standard – albeit powerful – wireless Bluetooth speaker for your mobile devices. The thing packs Dolby Sound Expander, two tweeters and two woofer units inside a decently portable unit, and connects via NFC.

It also runs for 14 hours on a charge, but all that apart, which really sounds cool is the Social JukeBox feature which lets you and your friends collectively create a party playlist, with voting to make it truly democratic. Beliebers should be warned right now that things could get sticky with this kind of system in place.

The feature works using the Jabra Sound App for iOS or Android, which gives your party goers the chance to nominate and vote for their choice of tracks before things get started. Very cool. You need to own a Solemate to run the app, because even though it’s free, you need to have an unlock code provided with the speaker. Still a great idea.

Priced at $399.99 or £205.64.
